Thursday we took some trips to two entirely different companies to see how they were run and what kind of work they had done.
The first company we visited was Anabliss, a company small in size, but definitely not in ways of work. They have done some really amazing work and for large companies, including our very own CU Denver. I was really excited to visit Anabliss as I love branding and print work, and as Matt Coffman, the president of this exciting company mentioned, print is something that is sadly going down in production. One of the things I loved about Anabliss was the close knit type of family they seem to be, they get their work done without the corporate high stress.
The next place we visited was Ironton Studios, which I had heard the name very often and was interested in finding out what this studio was all about. I found out it's basically a huge studio where people can rent out area's to do their work in and they rotate out this gallery they have to showcase people's work. It was a really artistic place, you could almost feel this vibe. I liked the idea that they would show you work for free in this gallery, you have to book in advance but it's definintely something to keep an eye on for the future.
Both companies were really different from eachother, but both gave me different insights to what kind of places I would like to work and how they are run. I'm really thankful that they welcomed us into their studios and took the time out of their schedule to show us around. I look forward to more trips to exciting companies like this in the future!

Christian Cervantes
Although a bit late, I finally did get a hold of one person after searching through arts magazines for probono projects and coming across one out of the tons I searched. It took him a while to get back to me, so I'm posting this now, it was because it was the weekend and even harder to get a hold of people.

The Problem
Creating a design that lived up to the past identities of The Tribecca Film Festival and it's prestigious heritage. They wanted something bold that would stand out while still incorporating the highlight which was that it was their 5th anniversary.
It was definitely a challenge to get everyone together on creating this piece since it was pro bono, it wasn't their biggest priority amongst the company. While creating this advertisement, they had other projects to work on as well and had to divide their time equally.

The Process
They went about designing this by comparing past identities from the festival, they wanted something different from past designs but still keeping with the modern look. Research and collaboration was the key element in their design process. After their design was collaborated amongst the group they set about making many different variations in color and size to display for advertising.
Placement of these advertisements were placed everywhere among town, on the sides of buildings, posters, handout flyers as well as placed all over the internet along with their own website.. Not that people didn't already know about the Tribeca Film Festival, the advertisement was still plastered about enough to make the film festival known.
Results
The results were very successful, everyone loved the new identity they created and are still being used in the most recent Tribeca Film Festival advertisements. The bold colors and modern images were the perfect fit with the ahead of the curve Films that debuted that year. Although this campaign was a couple years ago now, it is still widely known and related back to for current designs.

Agency Contact
Definitely having trouble contacting agencies, I really wanted to get a hold of crispin porter + bogusky since they have a local agency here and I've always been interested in their work. So far I have had no luck with this, though I can going to keep trying. I do understand it's a rather big agency and they are busy more than a smaller company.
I have tried my other companies as well, in terms of email and phone, hopefully I can get a hold of someone to speak with because at this point I have no information for this project due this weekend. I have my questions ready, all that's missing is the designer to interview.

Agencies to Consider
Crispin Porter + Bogusky
dontpassgas.org
Ad council campaign
Taking action against second hand smoking, how dangerous the smoke is to people around it, if people want to smoke they tell them to take it outside and ' Thank you for not passing gas.' A slogan they hope to become as powerful as past slogans. Another addition to this campaign is adding a parody to farting when talking about second hand smoke.
McCann-Erikson
smallstep.gov
Ad council campaign
Campaign against obesity in adults, listing off small steps to get healthy such as simply parking far back and walking more when you shop. Very eye catching advertisements with body parts people have lost due to getting healthy.
Kaplan Thaler Group Ltd.
stopalcoholabuse.gov
Ad council campaign
Campaign to stop underage drinking, kids are drinking younger and younger, these advertisements portray very young kids saying they are going to become alcoholics when they reach 21.
